Sequence of actions when obtaining a visa

IMPORTANT NOTE: Upon arrival, all international students must register with immigration authorities within 3 working days.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES MAY RESULT IN AN ADMINISTRATIVE FINE AND DEPORTATION TO THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN. REPEAT VIOLATIONS CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS LEGAL CONSEQUENCES.

Also, all foreign citizens, regardless of age, nationality, citizenship, purpose of entry and other details, must submit a notification of stay to the migration services. This does not depend on the presence of a visa or temporary residence permit (TRP), because filing a notification is a procedure complementary to the main document, visa or temporary residence permit, and not interchangeable.
A foreign citizen is obliged:
1. Within 3 (three) days from the date of entry, notify your University of arrival. Notification is carried out by providing the original foreign passport with copies of the passport itself, visa and border crossing stamp. The notification is submitted online through the visa and migration portal vmp.gov.kz or eqonaq.kz.

2. If you change your actual place of residence, notify the University within 3 (three) days.

3. To extend a visa or registration, a foreign citizen must contact the University 30 (thirty) calendar days before the expiration of the visa or registration.

4. If you intend to cross the border or go to another city in the Republic of Kazakhstan, you must notify the University in writing by submitting a statement agreed upon with the University employees responsible for foreign students.

For violation of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of population migration, a fine is imposed in the amount of 10 MCI to 60 MCI. Monthly calculation index (MCI) for calculating benefits and other social payments, as well as applying penalties, taxes and other payments in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    The main international airports in Kazakhstan are Almaty International Airport (ALA) and Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport (NQZ) in Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana).
